Academic writing differs from all other writing in a variety of ways, even from writing that may appear to have a similar formality, such business or legal writing. Academic writing has certain requirements that are typically well-defined by the individual university department or school that will evaluate it. Unfortunately, many peoples find it difficult to understand or adhere to these requirements. The expectations of the academics who will grade the paper are the most fundamental distinction between academic writing and general writing. Every people must therefore be aware of and put into practice the writing standards expected. This book will provide a brief overview of the key elements that go into creating an passages that meets standards for quality writing. It will first go over the significance of an efficient essay-writing process and offer developmental stages for writing skill.
According to Jordan, academic writing must be distinguished from other formal forms of writing like official and business (1986 p. 18). The major qualities of “good academic writing” have been the topic of much debate in the general field of writing skills, as have the significance of language discourse functions and the vital role that they play when it comes to generating “excellent academic writing”. In this book, “academic writing” will be defined as well as the key elements of “excellent academic writing”
